Workouts: Creating Your First Workout Plan

In the Virtuagym system, there are quite a few standard training plans you can use, created by experts from the fitness world. When you want to create a training plan for your clients, you are welcome to use one such plan as a template.

Of course, it's very well possible you want to create your own training plans from scratch. You can do this in the workout plan editor.

When you create a new training plan, you can choose between a personal plan (for a specific client, invisible for others), a club plan (visible and usable for all your clients, or an employee plan (visible for staff members).

When you want to create a personal plan, go to the client's profile in the Clients and Staff app, choose "New Workout Plan" and go to the Workout Editor.

If you want to create a club plan, go directly to the Workout app and click on Workout Editor there.

What to fill out:

- Workout Name: Visible for clients & a reference to find the plan
- Description: Only visible when the editor is open
- Goal: Select from the dropdown
- Difficulty: For whom is this plan suitable?
- Days Per Week: How many times a week should they work out?
- Repeat: How many times must the plan be repeated?
- Tags: Improve the searchability of the plan
- Workout Picture: Add your own picture to the plan

Once you've added the options above, you can start to create the Training Plan in the left column. Choose the number of days for which you want to create the plan. If you want to add a day of rest you can add a completely empty day, or create a custom activity named "rest day". You can also move or copy the days, or change their names.

In the middle column, you can add exercises. Click on the +Add next to "Exercises" to open up the database. You should be able to find all the exercises you're looking for by using the filter at the top. If not, you can always add your own activity.

When you click on an exercise, it will appear in the middle column. You can add extra details in the right column, like the number of sets, intensity, rest periods and a note.

When you've added all the activities you need, you can save the plan by clicking "Save" in the top right corner. You can choose between multiple visibility options, "only myself" is for personal plans, "Everyone of my club" is for club plans, and "Employees in my club" is for employees to view. Read more about this in this article.

You also have the option to designate the Workout Plan as "Pro Only," if you only want PRO members to have access to it. Check the box to activate this option.

After saving the plan, the option to print will appear next to the Save button. You can choose between a compact or extensive version. Please note that it will be printed anonymously, client details can be added manually. For more information on how to print a workout plan, check this article.

Additionally, the option to "Add to Calendar" will appear next to the "Save" button. You are able to decide the days you would like the exercise to take place, the duration in weeks, and a start date.

If it is a Club plan all your clients will now be able to find the plan in their own Workout app, under the filter "Club plans". They can view this plan and add it to their Activity Calendar.

If it's a personal plan that means you can add the plan to the Activity Calendar of the client. Find the plan in the Workout app and choose "Add to Calendar". Pick a start date, duration in weeks and add the plan.
Please note: You will need to be connected to your client when adding the plan to their calendar. You can check this by viewing the black bar at the top of your screen with your clients' information.

Now that you've added the plan to the client's Activity Calendar, they will be able to view the plan, play the exercises and check them as done when they've finished them. You as a trainer can check the Activity Calendar to see if they're tracking their progress.

If you want to use a personal plan as a template for a different client, you can find the plan in the Workout app, edit it and save it as a new plan.
