rfid.png

A radio frequency identification reader (RFID reader) is a device used to gather information from a tag (card) and identify the members of the club.

With this technology, members can access the facilities by scanning a card, key fob, bracelet or tag that has a built-in RFID chip.

Choosing the Right Reader

If you want to use this technology, please make sure the device you choose meets the following conditions:

  • PC/SC Driver Compliant: This is the middleware standard that our software uses.
  • USB Interface: This means that it is connected via USB to the computer.
  • It uses the same frequency of the cards, key fobs, tags or bracelets that you want to use: There are 2 common frequencies in RFID Readers, 13.56 Mhz, and 125 kHz. The reader and the cards must use the same frequency.

  • HID Omnikey 5022 (Compatible with Mifare 13.56 Mhz)
  • HID Omnikey 5422 (Compatible with Mifare 13.56 Mhz)
  • HID Omnikey 5427 (Compatible with Mifare 13.56 Mhz)
  • HID Omnikey 5023 (Compatible with Mifare 13.56 Mhz)
  • HID Omnikey 5025 (Only compatible with HID Prox 125 KHz)
  • FunkyGate-IP PC/SC

Choosing the Right Cards

Choosing the reader implies that you also have to choose the right tags for your business. A tag is a piece of hardware your members will use when they visit your facilities. There is a wide variety of tags that come in different shapes, size, and color, this is called form factor.

Commonly, RFID tags are available as cards, key fobs, tags, pins, or even bracelets. It is up to you to choose what's best for your business as long as you meet the following conditions:

  • The tags are RFID Supported
  • The tags use the same frequency of the reader you want to use: For example, if the reader you want to buy operates at 13.56 Mhz, then the cards must have the same frequency.
